Duties and responsibilities
I have a full understanding of the duties of an expert witness as laid out in the Academy of Medical Royal College’s “Acting as an expert or professional witness: Guidance for healthcare professionals” 2019.
My medico-legal practice is fully compliant with Civil Procedure Rules Part 35 and Practice Direction 35 and has due regard for the Civil Justice Council “Guidance for the Instruction of Experts in Civil Claims” 2014.

Instructions
I accept new instructions on standards of care and causation relating to my expertise as a clinical anaesthetist. I require that my instructions include: signed agreement to my full terms and conditions, a summary of the issues, an indication of the issues that I should address, specification of the type of report required (full/short, expedited/non-expedited) and sorted and paginated medical records.
I am committed to paperless working and therefore request that wherever possible records are provided in electronic format. I provide all reports and communications as password-protected documents identified via the instructing party’s reference number. I am a GDPR-compliant data controller (ICO Reference: ZB085203).
Report production time
A non-expedited report will be provided within 30 working days of the date of engagement; an expedited report will be provided within 10 working days.
Cancellation
If the instructing party cancel the instruction before completion I will invoice an appropriate fee reflecting the work undertaken up until the date of cancellation.
